Our Story

The idea for the Slade started in 2023 on a church boys’ trip to Lee’s Ferry and the Colorado River. Before heading out to kayak, we were staying near Lake Powell and cooking breakfast burritos on a Camp Chef flat top grill.

There was just one problem — we forgot the spatula.

With eggs already on the griddle, I had to improvise. I cut the flaps off a cardboard box, wrapped them in aluminum foil, and used them as a makeshift spatula to handle the eggs. It was not pretty, but something surprising happened: the short, wide shape make shift spatula actually gave me more control than a regular spatula.

That moment stuck with me.

Traditional spatulas put the handle far from the blade. The Slade was designed differently. By placing the handle directly on the blade, it gives you better balance, stronger leverage, and more control right where the cooking happens.

What started as a quick fix on a camping trip became a tool built for flat-top cooking — chopping, scooping, scraping, stirring, flipping, and moving food with confidence.

The Slade was born from a simple idea: sometimes the best tools come from solving a real problem.
